Miami Circle
Today, the Miami Circle is being transformed into the Miami Circle Park. When completed, the new park will be a greenspace oasis in the heart of downtown Miami. Visitors can walk along the riverwalk (link to Miami River Greenway at TPL website), keeping an eye out for fish, manatees, and the fleet of freighters and cargo ships shepherded by tug boats in and out of the Miami River. Access the site by walking down the driveway in front of the IconBrickell hi-rise or through Brickell Park (link to City of Miami website on Brickell Park) and along the baywalk in front of the Icon. The Brickell family mausoleum, dating to 1924, is located in Brickell Park, though the family burials have long since been relocated to other cemeteries in Miami. Other things to see in the area include the bronze statue "Tequesta Family" by Cuban born sculptor Manuel Carbonell on top of the Brickell Avenue Bridge. An expansive Tequesta Indian village dating to the time of European Contact was found across the river, in the vicinity of the Epic hi-rise and the Hyatt Regency Hotel and Miami Convention Center.
